Just in from the Straits Times. I wonder how Singaporeans would percieve the case if it goes to a summary trial and judgement.

Defamation suit: Lawyers for PM, MM, file reply
The lawyers for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew have filed a reply to the arguments made by the Far Eastern Economic Review (Feer) in their defamation suit against the magazine. They said they reserved the right to seek a summary judgment and to strike out Feer’s defence, which they described as ‘frivolous, vexatious, scandalous and an abuse of the process of the Court’.
A summary judgment, if granted, means the court will give its ruling on a case without it going to trial, because the court is satisfied the defence is baseless.

The Campaign to CTPSS on JBJ will be back in September.
The irony to me is stark as I notice the advertising campaign for this play. Adverts, posters and banners to promote the play can be seen in the National Library foyer as well as on taxis. Pamphlets on the play are available in almost every shopping center that has a Sistic outlet.
Ironically, the public space, which has been used to spread government campaigns explicitly through government-sponsored posters and ideas (through direct exhortations for e.g. to stop spitting) or implicitly through tourists outreaches (Celebrate Singapore- the paradise on Earth - come visit now before our perpetual shopping sales and gorging becomes less perpetual) is now inverted and shared to spread another form of campaign.
I normally enjoy reading 8 days, especially the last two pages of the magazine by Colin Goh and Jason Hahn.
But this week’s issue raises a question. With regards to an article on “20 Great Singapore Moments on Youtube,” it seemed that the 8 days’ writer replicated and analyzed the video results in his article when you typed “Singapore” in Youtube.com
Go ahead, do it right now and compare the results with the article in this week 8 days’ issue. You would see almost every results from this direct search input of “Singapore” was reflected in the article. That itself is no problem and shows genuine research from the 8 days’ writer; but what do you realize about those results that were omitted?

Some preliminary thoughts on the rally.
FOR one, Low Thia Khiang must be happy - PM Lee seems to be wearing a blue shirt, the color of the Workers’ Party Uniform. This symbolizes PM Lee’s commitment to address issues of the heartlands and the blue collar workers. But does Low’s grey shirt suggests a sombre after-taste about the rally?
PM Lee has stuck to a close script of the tangibles - the CPF scheme as well as HDB upgrading. It was a winning formula for most Singaporeans looking for solutions to the widening income gap, although those looking for comments that contribute to his former promises of an “open and inclusive” society might find this year speech disappointing.
The CPF/employment scheme looks likely to be tweaked to prepare for an ageing population. I am not going to repeat what was said because you can read it in Channelnewsasia.com
Questions remain though on how Singaporeans will react to the changes:
